Reactive Sensor Networks Project

Mobile Computing

The advent of Java and agents technology has sparked interest in mobile computing. While we find that both of these advances are important, it is not certain that they are suited to all applications. In addition a large amount of legacy software exists, especially in the area of signal and image processing.

We are developing a mobile computing toolbox that provides mobile computing support to interpreted and compiled languages other than Java. This will allow the numerous advantages of mobile computing to be applied to applications not suited to Java and agents.

The toolbox will be a service broker that unites embedded systems, workstations, and super computers in a single system. The system assigns tasks at run-time. This is being implemented in phase 1 of the project.
